How Often Should You Get a Haircut?

Hair grows roughly a centimetre to a centimetre and a half a month — but when that becomes visible depends on the cut. The greater the contrast between the short and long sections, the sooner the shape slips.

Fades and skin fades: 2–3 weeks

Sides taken down to zero or near-zero age fastest: after two weeks the transition visibly sits higher than it should. If you want it always fresh, a two-week rhythm is your friend; past three weeks it stops looking intentional.

Classic short cuts: 3–4 weeks

Undercuts, textured crops and shorter scissor cuts start to tire from week three — the ears and the neckline give it away first. A four-week cycle suits most short styles.

Medium-length hair: 4–6 weeks

With 5–10 cm on top, growth shows less, but the shape grows heavy: hair flattens under its own weight. A trim every four to six weeks keeps the form without meaningfully losing length.

Long hair: 8–12 weeks

With long hair the stakes shift from freshness to the state of the ends. Split ends can only be cut off — no product repairs them. A scissor trim every eight to twelve weeks handles exactly that.

Beards run on their own clock

A beard loses shape faster than hair — especially its lines. A shaved contour wants attention every two to three weeks; a longer, more natural beard is fine with once a month.

A tip: combine them

The simplest rhythm, and the one that works for our guests: haircut and beard trim in one appointment, every four weeks. One booking, everything refreshed at once.
